The month of January has been active and busy at St. Brendan’s N.S,
The school is going for its Active Flag this year and the children have been enjoying lots of different sporting activities. This year so far they have done
new activities such as cricket and Gaelic Handball. In recent weeks the children have been doing Zumba with Karolina and learning about safe cycling through the Cycle Sense Programme. All of these sporting activities are additional to the usual sporting activities in the school such as running, badminton, basketball and football.
The soccer team in the school have been busily training and preparing for their upcoming Soccer Tournament.
We have made each Monday in January and February Mindful Mondays. This has been a very positive and worthwhile experience for the children with the opportunity to explore feelings and bring awareness to how to be calmer, positive each day. The children have been taught this through the medium of play, art, mindful walks, exercise and also through creative tasks like baking.
We are delighted that the first stages of the outdoor Sensory Space are about to be completed. We are excited at school that we will be purchasing a Chicken Coop and run at school and outdoor mud kitchens. We have also designated a space at school where the other features of the sensory space will be developed and we are looking forward to this starting soon.
January has gone by very fast and we have seen changes at St. Brendan’s N.S in that short period of time. We have welcomed 4 new students to the school. We look forward to supporting and guiding them in their education each day at school.
We are looking forward to Spring and the growth and development of our Outdoor Sensory Space and garden during this time. The funds for this development were as a result of our Wine and Cheese Fundraiser last year.
We are grateful also to all those who supported our Solas le Chéile Fundraiser in conjunction with Bantry Hospice in December. We are delighted that 1410 euros was raised from this and will be dividing equally between Bantry Hospice Project and St. Brendan’s N.S. T
Thank you to all who bought cards, the children really enjoyed going out and selling the cards and practised some very valuable life skills in the process.
We are holding a Cash For Clobber clothes recycling fundraiser. Bags of clean clothes, textiles, shoes, curtains, bags and bed linen may be dropped to the school. No pillows or duvets please.
This is a great fundraiser for our school and as always your support is greatly appreciated.
Cash For Clobber items can be dropped at the school any day during school hours or text 087 3139550 to arrange drop off. We will be accepting donations until the end of March.
