School News June 2026

The Children at St. Brendan’s N.S have had a busy final month at school. The month began with a very successful Trashion Show in Bantry House on the June Bank Holiday Weekend.

The children rose to the occasion, making their own costumes out of recycled materials and putting on a wonderful show and performance in the wonderful setting of Bantry House. Everyone had a fun evening and it was a great experience for all involved. It was lovely for the children to
collaborate with the children of St. James’s NS in Durrus for this occasion.

We would like to thank everyone who supported the event and the raffle on the night. So many local businesses and people provided raffle prizes and DJ Terence Gibbs was a star MC on the night. Thank you also to Julie Shellswell- White for allowing us to use Bantry House for the event.

This month the children have been able to play each day on the new all -weather pitch at school.
This has made the breaktimes more fun for all the children. We were delighted to welcome Tony Stephenson into school to give a talk about bullying and understanding the best ways for the children to recognise, manage and seek help if bullying happens
in their lives.

The School tours to Clonakilty Model Railway and West Cork Secret were a big success. We were
lucky with the weather and the children had a great day out. All the hard work that the children have done all year at school has paid off with much to look back
on this year.

The children have achieved a lot In school this year and we have seen progress in many different areas in the curriculum which includes their creative and sporting skills. The Active week was a very popular week with the children this year again at school. We were sad to say goodbye to our sixth class students recently. They were wonderful students in the school and everyone will all miss them next year. We wish them well as they transition to second level education.

We were lucky to have a beautiful sunny day for our annual end of year barbecue in school and it was great to welcome parents into the school for an occasion that traditionally marks the end of the school year at St. Brendan’s N.S Bantry.

The children are looking forward to the Summer Holidays before returning to school at the end of August. We would like to thank all the staff, parents and anyone else who helped in anyway to make this school year a positive experience for the children filled with learning and growth.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy Summer from all at St. Brendan’s N.S Bantry.
