October 2025 school news

The children at St Brendan’s N.S have been busy learning and enjoying the month of October.

The hens have been busily laying their eggs every day and the children love to collect the eggs each day at school.

The sensory space has moved from a Summer look to a more Autumnal feel and Mr O Donovan led his class on Science trail in the sensory space recently.

The Junior Room children have been learning poems and rhymes in both English and Irish. They love to recite the poems and sing the songs when they get a chance. Thanks to Sinead for supporting with this project.

The children in the Senior Room completed Pumpkin sculpting and floral design workshop with Liz O Leary recently and they produced lovely designs that could be sold in any craft shop.

We were very grateful to Geraldine Hicks for coming in to school every Monday in October to teach Rugby to the children. The children really enjoyed the game and activities that they did with Geraldine. They learned some really important Rugby skills in the process.

The Credit Union art competition has been a wonderful opportunity for the children to showcase their artistic talents. They produced some very creative works focusing on the theme The Future is…..

The children in the Senior Room have completed the Chess lessons provided by Ficheall and are now busy playing chess against each other at school.

On Friday 10th of October all at school dressed up for Jersey Day and raised money for GOAL.

Many children in school are looking forward to having to the the opportunity to dress up for Halloween on Friday October 24th.

We hope everyone enjoys the Mid- Term break.
