November/December 2025 school news

The Children at St Brendan’s N.S have been busy preparing for Christmas in recent weeks.

All the children have been practising for their Christmas Plays and learning new Christmas songs.

In early November the children were treated to a historical journey back in time when Robert Plant gave wonderful talk about the Titanic.

The children were fascinated by the real life stories of people who were on the Titanic. Robert brought the whole story of the Titanic to life and everyone enjoyed his presentation.

The children in the Senior Room have been taking part in the Super Troopers  initiative by Laya Healthcare.

Each week the children take part in different activities such as Making nutritious, healthy snacks at home, Coming up with an Exercise plan for themselves at home, and Creating a Digital display of positive things in their lives.

The staff at St Brendan’s N.S took part in the Glengarriff  Parkrun on Saturday November 15th. The Parkrun is a very positive experience and all the Staff enjoyed the event. Mr O Donovan showed his fitness level by coming second place overall in the event.

The first week of December is Arts week at St. Brendan’s N.S. This included Arts and Craft activities such as making Christmas wreaths, A trip to Bantry Library with Arts and Crafts making. The children also got the opportunity to sing carols in Bantry Hospital.

The biggest hit was the Trip To see the pantomime of Cinderalla in The Everyman Theatre in Cork.

The build up to Christmas is always busy at St. Brendan’s N.S.

We will be holding our annual Solas le Chéile Fundraiser in partnership with Bantry Hospice Project.

Christmas cards  will be for sale in town in December. Each card bought represents one light on the Solas le Chéile  Christmas Tree at school.

This can be to let someone know that you are thinking about them or in memory of someone who has passed away. All proceeds are shared equally between St. Brendan’s N.S and Bantry Hospice. Please support if you can this Christmas by buying a Solas le Chéile card.

Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas and best wishes for 2026 from all at St. Brendan’s N.S. Bantry.
