It has been an exciting few weeks at St. Brendan’s N.S in Bantry.
We are delighted to have been able to welcome eight new children to the school this week. The children arrived recently from the Ukraine and are settling in well at school. On their first day of school we went on a nature walk down to the Béicín beach in Bantry. The children loved the sea, the beach and skimming stones in the water.

On Friday 20th of May we held a Fun Day at St. Brendan’s. The children had a great day of fun games and activities. People of all ages came to the Fun Day and we are very grateful to all the people who helped make the event happen.
Our Food for the day was sponsored by Super Valu, the gazebo was kindly loaned to us by Schull Triathlon Club and parents and friends of the children helped greatly with organising the day. The children loved the face painting, balloon modelling, lucky dip and lots of other games.
Thank you to everyone who made the day so special.
The Puppet Show and Magician show was a big hit. We were lucky to be able to hold the Puppet Show in our Halla and we had a great turn out.

The children from St. Brendan’s were invited up to visit Bantry House recently. We were very lucky that the weather was lovely and the children loved playing in the gardens of Bantry House including the maze and the new sand pit and play area for children that is there.
The children were given a guided tour of Bantry House by Julie Shellswell- White. There was so much history to be seen and experienced in the house. The boys in 5th class were excited to discover an old chest that had not been opened in many years. Julie showed them the contents inside the chest and there were many historical documents including old books, photographs and an old diary from during World War 2. The children were also impressed by the old swords, old pianos, pictures of queens, an old snooker table and the old piano in the library room.
We are looking forward to the weeks and months ahead at St. Brendan’s NS.
We are very grateful to have new students in our school each day. We will have our school tour and other activities coming up so it promises to be a busy end of term.
