The children at St. Brendan’s N.S were busy and productive during the month of March. The children in the senior room worked in groups create projects on lighthouses around Ireland. These lighthouses included Fastnet Lighthouse, Ballycotton Lighthouse, The Great Light Lighthouse in Belfast, Hook Head Lighthouse in Wexford and St John’s Lighthouse in County Down. This was an opportunity to practice using materials to recreate models of the lighthouses.
The children also practiced their Oral Language and Presentation skills by talking about the History and story behind the building of lighthouses to other children and to adults in the school.
All the children in school were encouraged to wear red recently in Give Racism the Red Card campaign and fundraiser.

The children in the senior room have relished in the challenge of using the Izak 9 Programme which is hands-on maths resource and teaching approach used in primary schools to develop children’s problem-solving and thinking skills IZAK9 uses colourful cubes and structured activities to help children explore maths concepts in a visual and interactive way.

All at school were delighted to be able to present Bantry Hospice Project with 700 Euros as a result of our Solas le Chéile Fundraiser at school in December. We would like to thank all who supported this fundraiser by buying a Christmas Card that represented one light on our Solas Le Chéile Tree at school.
