The month of June has been eventful at St. Brendan’s N. S Bantry.
The children have been taking part in Song Singing classes with Caz Jeffries and were delighted to perform all the songs that they had learned at school recently.
The songs were fun and and great way of exploring different cultures. The children sang a variety of songs including Yellow Submarine by the Beatles and an African playground song which they really enjoyed.
The children are happy to have all the end of year assessments completed and we are very proud of all the work that the children have put into their schoolwork during the school year.
There was great excitement recently when we had a visit to school by James O Neill, an Ornithologist based in UCC. James showed the children videos of the Swifts feeding their chicks in the swift boxes at school. The children really enjoyed the educational lesson given by James all about Swifts and how they make their way from Africa to the Swift Boxes at St. Brendan’s N.S every year. The children learned that the swift chicks will be taking flight and going on their own adventure to Africa in a couple of weeks time.
The pupils had a great day at the Skibbereen Sports Centre for their school tour.
On Wednesday 18th of June the 6th Class children at St. Brendan’s N.S graduated. After the graduation the students, staff and parents enjoyed a BBQ with burgers and hotdogs. We hold an end of year BBQ annually at St. Brendan’s. We wish our graduates all the best in their future education.
Everyone at St. Brendan’s N.S would like to thank all the people who have supported the school during the year, the parents, visiting teachers and coaches and the wider community who were a great support for our Wine and Cheese fundraiser recently.
We wish everyone a happy, fun filled and safe summer and we look forward to welcoming the children back to school in the next school year.
