The children of St. Brendan’s N.S have had an eventful final month in school.
With all of their end of year assessments completed the children explored learning through many different activities and field trips during June.
On June 5th the children went to the Lagoon and Smugglers Cove in Rosscarbery for their school tour. We were very lucky that the sun shone and the children had lots of fun in the waterpark, pedal boating, crab fishing and being brought around the lagoon in a fast boat. The biggest hit of the day was the Tubing in Smugglers Cove.
On June 7th the the children had visit from Anthony Galvin for a fun filled educational day all about Pirates and :Polar Explorers. The children were also dazzled by the magic show. This day was supported by the Heritage in Schools Programme was a wonderful way for the children to learn about history in a fun and engaging way.
On June 11th Peter Stobart visited St. Brendan’s for an hour long music lesson. The children explored playing around with sounds and using their voices in fun and creative way. They also sang songs with Peter that they had learned during the year in school.
The final week of school has been very busy for the children. On Monday 17th of June the children were lucky to receive golf lessons from Ms. Becky O Sullivan. The children learned about how to hold a golf club, putting and hitting the golf ball.
Later on that day the children visited Bantry Fire Station. They met firefighters Trevor and Steven and learned all about how they work at the fire station.
Trevor also gave a Fire Safety lesson back at the school later.
The most exciting part of the day was spraying the fire hose at the teacher’s cars!
The last week of school also included a sports day, orienteering and walk to Bantry House Gardens. Not to forget the end of year barbecue prepared by Mr. Elgammal!
Parents and children enjoyed the barbecue and Mr. Elgammal was supported by Ms. Kingston in making sure everyone got fed.
On Wednesday 19th of June the graduation ceremony took place for our two sixth class pupils. We wish Maksym and Danil the best in their future and we will all miss them.
We are grateful to everyone who has supported in any way with teaching, helping and positively influencing the children at St. Brendan’s N.S during the year.
We wish everyone a happy and healthy summer holidays and look forward to welcoming our new junior infants to school on 28th of August.
