St Brendans National School Bantry

February News 2024

It has been an exciting few weeks at St. Brendan’s N.S.

The children in the Senior Room took part in the FAI soccer tournament in Bantry recently.

This was a great experience for the group and a great opportunity to represent their school in competition.

Representing the school at events has been the theme of the last few weeks at school.

The children in the Senior Room also took part in the Credit Union Quiz Competition and the Ficheall Chess Competition.

We are very grateful to those who organised these excellent events. The children really enjoyed being given the opportunity to meet children from other schools and take part.

Everyone at the school was excited to welcome the new junior infants for next year at our recent open day event. It was lovely for the older children being able to welcome siblings into school.

The junior room in the school was bustling and busy on the morning of the open day with the new arrivals to the school.

As we move into Spring the children are helping Mr. Elgammal to build the raised beds in readiness for the growing season in the school garden. The children are looking forward to planting in the garden and taking care of it in the weeks and months ahead.

St. Brendan’s N.S will hold another Wine and Cheese Fundraiser night in Bantry House on Saturday May 18th.  Last year’s event was very well supported by the local community and turned out to be a lovely night in a very special setting.  The money raised last year went towards the development of a Sensory Room at the school and this has benefited the children greatly.

We would love to be able to expand the sensory space to include an outdoor Sensory Garden also.

On the night there will be Wine and Cheese but also Choir singing, Local musicians, International Singers and Performers and it will all take place in the wonderful setting of Bantry House.

We are looking forward to the event on the 18th of May. Contact the school on 027 55126 or 087 313 9550 to express your interest in attending as spaces are limited.
