The month of April has been busy and productive at St. Brendan’s N.S.
The children are excited that they are swimming every Friday at the Maritime Hotel in Bantry.
They are able to walk across to the hotel and enjoy the excellent swimming lessons there each Friday.
The school garden is really starting to take shape. The children have been busy planting vegetables and flowers in the garden over the last few weeks.
They have planted potatoes, carrots, parsnips, wild flowers and sunflowers.
The Junior Room have been learning about The Garden in their Aistear Programme.
Aistear is play based learning and the children really enjoy planting the vegetables and flowers in the garden as part of this programme.
As part of the celebration of Eid the children were invited to go into the town square and taste some of the foods and celebrate the customs of the Muslim tradition. Eid marks the end of Ramadan and it was great for the children to learn more about this tradition.
The senior room visited Bantry Library on Friday 26th of April. This was for an excellent storytelling workshop by various children’s authors in connection with childrenslaureate.ie
As part of the wellness programme in school the children have been going for walks each Monday. This has been great for their fitness level and also for social interaction with other.
They have also continued to do Yoga with Mr. Murphy every Thursday this month.
On the 29th of April the children were delighted to welcome Bishop Paul Colton to St. Brendan’s as part of the celebrations to mark his 25 years as a bishop.
The children sang two songs for Bishop Colton. All things Bright and Beautiful and Let it Be.
They were excited to have no homework that evening!
